Iran’s renewable energy output will hit 850 megawatts in the current fiscal year (started March 21), according to CEO of Renewable Energy Organization Mohammad Sadeqzadeh.

About 90 percent of this will come from wind and solar power, he told the Energy Ministry’s news agency March 21.

Most of the power plants will have 10 to 30 megawatts of capacity and are to be scattered around the country, he said.

The official also announced that five waste-to-power plants are under construction in Iran, with a total output of 9 megawatts.

Sadeqzadeh further said $3 billion worth projects in the renewable energy sector have been proposed by foreign investors.
