Iranian minister says India invested in Chabahar Port

India has already invested about $230 million in the development project of Chabahar Port in southern Iran, Minister of Transportation Abbas Akhoundi said.

Speaking at a meeting with the members of the development commission of Iranian parliament, the minister said that India had earlier invested $150 million for developing Chabahar port, IRNA news agency reported.

According to Akhoundi, the country will launch the development project of Chabahar Port by April 19.

He further said that several ministers from the neighboring countries will attend the ceremony for launching the first phase of Chabahar Port development project.

Indian government, however, in February announced that it set aside a $235 million line of credit for development of Iran’s Chabahar Port since 2015, but was unable to release the first tranche of $150 million due to Iran’s delay to submit a proposal for release of the fund.
