Iran’s agricultural growth hits 5%

Growth rate in Iran’s agricultural sector hit 5 percent in the last fiscal year (which ended March 20), IRNA news agency reported April 23.

According to the same report, the value of imported food products in that year stood at $8.9 billion, much lower than that of the 2013-2014 fiscal year when it stood at $13.5 billion.

From 2013 to 2016 also, agricultural trade turnover grew from -$8.1 billion to -$2.14. During the same period, agricultural product grew by 21.6 percent, which included 28.1 percent in horticulture, 20.4 percent in crops, 14.1 percent in livestock and poultry, and 16.7 percent in fisheries.
