Iran's energy market eyes gasoline trade as mega-project looms

Iran Energy Exchange (IRENEX) has expressed interest in offering the Persian Gulf Star Refinery’s gasoline as the mega-project for producing gasoline is due to go on stream soon.

The head of Iran Energy Exchange, Ali Hosseini, has expressed his organization’s readiness for exporting the products of Persian Gulf Star Refinery, the Persian economic daily Donya-e-Eqtesad reported.

According to Iranian officials, the long-awaited refinery is expected to launch its trial production of gasoline in the southern province of Hormozgan in the coming days.

The refinery is projected to produce 36 million liters per day of high-octane gasoline and 14 million liters per day of diesel once it is fully operational.

The mega-project is also expected to produce 4 million liters of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day as well as 3 million liters of jet fuel and 130 tons of sulfur on a daily basis.
