Iran exports $7B worth of mineral products in 1 year

Exports of Iran’s minerals and mineral industry products increased by 17 percent during the last fiscal year (ended March 20), in terms of value compared to the preceding year.

Iran exported over $7 billion worth of minerals and mineral industry products during the mentioned period, the country’s industry, mines and trade ministry’s official SHATA news portal reported Apr. 25.

The volume of the exports reached 57.648 million tons in the 12-month period, 38 percent more year-on-year.

The main exported goods were steel products(6.6 million tons, worth $2.699 billion), followed by copper, aluminium, cement, lead, zing, coal, iron, chromium, molybdenum, titanium, mica, nickel, decorative stones and antimony.

Iran also imported 5.892 million tons of mineral products, worth $3.743 billion in last fiscal year, registering a fall by 26 and 17 percent in terms of volume and value respectively.

Steel products were the main imported goods in mineral sector in last fiscal year. The Islamic Republic imported 4.016 million tons of steel products, worth $2.533 billion in the period.
