Gas deliveries to Iran’s power plants surge

Iran increased gas deliveries to power plants by 18.3 percent during the first 25 days of the current fiscal year, started on March 21.

During the last fiscal year, Iran increased gas deliveries to power plants by 5.2 percent to 61.454 billion cubic meters (bcm).

According to the latest weekly report of Iran’s Energy Ministry, gas oil and fuel oil deliveries to power plants also decreased by 64.3 percent and 76.6 percent respectively to 20 million and 46 million liters during the mentioned 25 days.

Iran decreased the supply of fuel oil and gas oil to this sector by 34.3 percent and 1 percent to 6.946 billion and 6.083 billion liters during the last fiscal year.

During this period, 17,119 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity was generated, of which 386 million kWh was exported. The figure indicates a 113 percent growth year-on-year.

Iran also imported 286 million of kWh electricity during the 25 days of year, which indicates a 25-percent decrease.

Iran’s power generation capacity stands at 76.592 GW and the figure is planned to reached 81.1 GW by the end of the current fiscal year.
