Renault sales in Iran up by 161%

French carmaker Renault sales in Iran’s car market registered a huge rise by 161.5 percent in the first quarter of 2017, the company said in its latest monthly statistics.

The company’s share from Iran’s market increased by 4.9 percent to 9 percent during the 3-month period year-on-year thanks to the success of Tondar and Sandero models.

The carmaker has sold 38,020 units in Iran in the first quarter of 2017. The company’s sales in March stood at 9,341 units, up by 55.7 percent compared to March 2016.

The carmaker’s total revenues amounted to €13.129 billion in first quarter of 2017, 25.2 percent more compared to the same period of preceding year.

First quarter sales rose by 15.8 percent in total to 873,678 vehicles in a market that grew by 4 percent.

The 2016 sales of Renault in Iran boomed by 110.7 percent to give the French carmaker an 8.4 percent market share.

The group reclaimed its position as a major player on Iranian market, doubling its market share in a single year thanks to successful performance from Tondar and Sandero brands.

According to the company statistics, the carmaker has sold 108,536 units in Iran over the last year.
