Iran’s insurance firms saw hike in earned premium, incurred loss

The amount of total premiums collected by Iranian insurance firms over an 11-month period during the last fiscal year (starting March 20) has increased by 9.21 percent.

Over the first 11 months of the last Iranian calendar year, the country’s insurance firms collected $195 million (6.243 trillion rials), 9.21 percent more compared to the preceding year, Ibena (Iranian banks and economy news agency) reported.

Some 30 firms were involved in the country’s insurance market over the reporting period.

In the meantime, the number of issued policies has increased by 16.2 percent reaching 51.3 million.

However, the amount of losses paid by the firms to claimants during the reporting period has increased by 25.4 percent.

According to the report, the firms have paid $4.765 billion (152.5 trillion rials) to claimants.

The report added that the number of incurred losses has increased by 30.2 percent reaching to reach 29 million cases.
