Iran sets precondition for energy cooperation with Germans

Iranian Energy Ministry has set a precondition for German firms who intend to do business in the Islamic Republic.

Hamidreza Tashaioei, an official with water and electricity industries within Iran’s energy ministry, has said that German firms for doing business in Iran need to find a local partner, Tasnim news agency reported.

Speaking at a Tehran meeting with Florian Obermayer, deputy head of the Africa and Middle East department at Bavarian ministry of economic affairs, has said that the two countries over the past 21 years have had a proper cooperation in the spheres of water and electricity.

The Iranian official further called for expansion of ties between private companies of the two countries and said organizing a joint conference on cooperation in the sphere of electricity and water would help to broadening the ties.

Markus Wittmann, the head of department of internationalization and industry at the Bavarian state ministry for economic affairs, earlier announced that his state is currently implementing 50 production and logistics projects in the spheres of automotive industry, technology and energy in Tehran.

Germany remained the fifth top goods exporter to Iran during the last fiscal year which ended March 20, 2017 with $2.537 billion worth of exports. Germany’s exports to Iran increased by 39.2 percent in the 12-month period.
