A special workgroup has been formed to try to establish connections between Iranian and South Korean monetary markets.

There have been numerous talks with Korean sides with the aim to open connections, according to Mohammad Reza Mohseni, CEO of the Central Securities Deposit of Iran, Mehr news agency reported May 14.

“The basic model for connecting monetary markets of Iran and South Korea which relies on buying Islamic Treasury bonds is in the final stages. If only some minor problems are solved, the connection will be possible in near future.”

Mohseni also mentioned that Iran is pursuing a similar process with Greece in order to streamline bilateral banking relations.
