Tehran, Iran, June 19

By Mehdi Sepahvand – Trend:

Iran is going to build its first LNG factory in the Qeshm Free Zone in the Persian Gulf, according to the zone’s deputy CEO, Mohammad Javad Dehqani.

He said the factory will have a capacity of 2,000 tons, and $250 million is needed to build it.

Iran and South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation to develop mini-LNG (liquefied natural gas) unit technology last week.

The technological cooperation document was signed between an Iranian consortium, headed by National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), and a South Korean consortium, headed by Oceanus.

Iran targets exporting 0.5-2 million tons of LNG per year using mini-LNG plants and LNG vessels.
