Baku, Azerbaijan, Mar.30

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior foreign policy advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader said that the Iranian negotiating team should be aware of the deceitful approach the US is taking in the nuclear talks.

Velayati has warned the negotiators of "the enemy's deceits and plots", the Khamenei.ir website reported on March 30.

"History shows that if the US retreats in a specific issue, it will change its attitude and put forward other issues," he said to explain the US approach.

"Any agreement should be balanced. The two sides should meet their obligations simultaneously. It is unacceptable that we stop our nuclear activities at a certain date, but they will then only lift the sanctions after years of evaluation and monitoring."

"Reports of the International Atomic Energy Agency indicate that Iran has not breached its obligations so far, but the US has always showed a deceitful and fraudulent behavior," Velayati said.

From the beginning of 2015, the six major world countries have been negotiating with Iran almost nonstop, round after round and meeting after meeting, in an effort to put Iran's nuclear program under international control in return for easing of sanctions.

As the March 31 deadline approaches, delegates from the P5+1 countries and Iran on March 30 continued their intensive negotiations to reach an understanding, which could pave way for the final resolution of the long disputed Iranian nuclear issue.
