By Fatih Karimov - Trend: The S-300 missile system will boost Iran 's defense capability, Iranian Ground Force Commander Lieutenant General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said.
Although the Iranian Army has taken many important measures over the recent years, such as the production of Bavar-373 missile system,which is as powerful as the S-300 system, but the S-300 system will boost the country's defense capability, Iran 's ISNA news agency quoted Pourdastan as saying on April 15.
Iran will unveil the long-range Bavar-373 homegrown missile defense system next week to rival the Russian S-300 system.
Pourdastan said countries that want to buy Iranian-made military equipment should contact the country's defense ministry.
Iranian defense minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan left Tehran on April 15 to Moscow to sign a deal for receiving Russian-made S-300 missiles. "We will receive the missile system in the current year," he said.
Iran and Russia 's defense ministers signed a defense deal on Jan.20, while Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to deliver a long-overdue missile system S-300 to Iran on April 13.
Putin's decision was surprising to the U.S. and Israel, who already had strong worries against the decree, hours after the news broke out.
