US, Iran sign historic agreement – State Department

Baku, Azerbaijan, July 23
Trend:

The US and Iran have signed a historic agreement, Richard Hoagland, the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State told reporters in Baku July 23.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will work on the technical aspects of the agreement, he said.

Hoagland said the sanctions won't be lifted, adding that this process can start after six months.
It is unknown how the situation will change after six months, he added.

Iran and P5 +1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) reached a historic agreement on Iran 's nuclear program July 14.

The negotiations ended with adoption of a joint comprehensive action plan. If Iran carries out this plan, the economic and financial sanctions earlier imposed on it by the UN Security Council, the US and EU will be lifted.
