The Iranian Parliament's Special Commission on the JCPOA has asked the Foreign Ministry to invite IAEA chief Yukiya Amano to the commission.

The commission is responsible for reviewing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the official name for the nuclear deal made between Iran and the group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) on July 14.

The Parliament's final vote on the JCPOA is going to rely on an evaluation the commission provides.

The commission's chairman Alireza Zakani wrote a letter to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif asking him to invite Amano to a session of the commission as Amano is to travel to Tehran in a few days. He hoped that by taking the invitation, Amano would be available to answer some questions by Iranian MPs.

In comments broadcast on Sept. 15, Iranian nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi said Amano would travel to Tehran, "within the next 3-4 days" for further talks on the inspection of the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities.

Iran and world powers reached a historic nuclear deal in July that curbs Tehran 's nuclear program in return for the lifting of international sanctions.
