A committee has been formed in Iran's foreign ministry to pursue implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The committee was established under the order of the Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran 's semi-official Fars news agency reported Sept. 22.

Iran's Deputy Minister and senior nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi is appointed as head of the committee.

The US has already appointed its lead coordinator for implementing the Iran nuclear agreement. On Sept. 17, the US Secretary of State John Kerry announced the appointment of Stephen D. Mull, a former ambassador as Lead Coordinator for Iran Nuclear Implementation.

Mull's appointment follows the US Congress' 60-day review period of the nuclear agreement, which ended on Sept. 17, during which Republicans failed to kill off the deal.

After several months of talks, on July 14, Iran and the P5+1 (US, Russia, China, France, UK, and Germany) announced a final accord, curbing Iran 's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of most international sanctions.

The deal is still under study in a special commission in Iranian parliament. It is expected that the JCPOA will be put to vote in an open session of the Parliament in a few days.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who heads the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said Sept. 21 that the Iranian Parliament is neither going to pass nor to reject the JCPOA.

"The Parliament will rather pass red lines as a necessity and allow the government to implement its agreement with the P5+ 1," he added.
