Ali Akbar Velayati, an advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said that the ISIL group has been created with the help of the United States.

"The US now wants to use the pretext of fighting ISIL as an excuse to intervene in other countries internal affairs," he said, Iran's Fars News Agency reported on September 13.
"Washington with the help of its regional and western allies created ISIL, the same way they created al-Qaeda" he explained.

"They failed to overthrow the legal governments of Syria and Iraq through ISIL militancy, so now they are taking the complete opposite stance to use the pretext of fighting ISIL in order to intervene in Iraq and Syria's internal affairs," Velayati noted.

He went on to note that Iran will continue its support for the governments of Iraq and Syria, as well as the two countries' nations.

The US president Barack Obama earlier this week announced his new strategy for fighting ISIL millitants in Syria and Iraq.

The new strategy includes arming anti-Damascus group who also fight with the ISIL, as well as carrying out airstrikes in Syria and Iraq.
