The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said that expansion of political, security, and economic ties between Iran and Russia will benefit the two countries significantly.

"Expansion of ties between Tehran and Moscow will also result in improving security and stability in the region," Shamkhani said, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported.

He made the remarks at a meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev in Tehran on October 21.

The two sides stressed on the need to boost bilateral trades in different fields.

Patrushev, for his part, said that Tehran and Moscow should increase their common understanding of priorities and necessities of bilateral trades.

He went on to note that peaceful nuclear program is Iran's certain right.

"The remaining issues in Iran's nuclear case should be resolved through political negotiations between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries," the Russian official said.
