We hope with serious steps taken by the six world powers in nuclear negotiations the comprehensive final agreement will soon be achieved, Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Tekht-e Ravanchi said here Tuesday, IRNA reported.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has taken long strides aimed at resolving this issue and hopes with taking serious steps on the other side we will soon reach a comprehensive final agreement," said Ravanchi during his Tuesday evening meeting with his visiting Italian counterpart Lapo Pistelli.

Meanwhile, on the progress achieved in the two countries' relations during past year, the Iranian diplomat also asked for the balanced development of Tehran-Rome relations in various fields based on mutual interests, and existing capacities.

The Italian deputy foreign minister, too, in the meeting referred to Iran's important regional status and stated that Italy wishes to expand comprehensive relations with Iran.

Pistelli also highlighted the significance of continuous consultations and cooperation with Iran keeping in mind the ISIL (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) terrorist activities in the region and the two countries' shared interests in regional and international fields.
