Iran is ready to export its military equipment to all countries excluding the Islamic Republic enemies, the country's Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan said.
Dehghan made the remarks while responding a question about the issue of exporting Iran-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to Mexico, the official IRIB news agency reported Dec. 16.
Markets of all friendly countries can be a target for Iran 's military products' exports, Dehghan said, adding the Islamic Republic has already provided some countries with military equipment without unveiling details.
Earlier head of Iranian parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said that Mexico is keen to import Iran-made drones.
"During my recent visit to Mexico they announced that want Iranian drones," Boroujerdi said.
Boroujerdi confirmed that the Islamic Republic has also provided Venezuela with drones.
Earlier in March Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called on the country's defense ministry to export its military products to the other countries.
Rouhani said that weapon trade is important in terms of foreign relations with other countries.
This kind of trade develops semi-strategic ties between countries, he added.
It should be noted that in March 2007 the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 1747 which established an embargo on the export from Iran of all arms and related materials, thereby banning all states and groups from purchasing or receiving arms from Iran . The resolution also called on all states to 'exercise vigilance and restraint' in their supply of any items covered by the UN Register of Conventional Arms to Iran.
Iranian media outlets report that Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems in recent years.
Since 1992, Iran has manufactured its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines and fighter planes.
