Iran's Deputy foreign minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital city of Abu Dhabi on Dec. 30 for an official visit.

Amir Abdollahian is scheduled to meet with senior UAE officials to discus issues of mutual interests as well as regional and global developments, Iran's official IRNA news agency reported.

The sides will confer on fighting terrorism and extremism in the region as well as latest developments in Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Bahrain and Yemen.

Last April Iran and the UAE agreed to set up a high profile politico-economic committee to facilitate cooperation on regional and international issues.

The sides agreed that a political committee chaired by deputy foreign ministers of Iran and the United Arab Emirates to convene in Tehran and Abu Dhabi every six months.

Based on the agreement, Iran and the UAE are committed to broaden political cooperation in international organizations and conventions.
