700 kilograms of opium was seized from drug-traffickers near southeast borders of Sistan-Baluchestan province in an operation in which a trafficker was killed, IRNA reported.
Lieutenant Commander for harmonizing the Sistan-Baluchestan Border Guards Colonel Mohammad Ali Mohammadi said that Saravan region borderguards upon a tip-off about the plan to smuggle in the narcotics provided intensive coverage of the borders in an ambush.
The drug-traffickers traded fire with the borderguards after hearing the order to surrender.
The borderguards trained the machinguns on the traffickers.
One of the drug-traffickers was killed, leaving behind of the contraband and a vehicle.
They escaped the scene, said Colonel Mohammadi.
