Iran's FM leaves Tehran for World Economic Forum

Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif has left Tehran on Jan. 22 for Davos, Switzerland to take part in the 45th annual summit of World Economic Forum (WEF), the Islamic Republic’s official IRNA news agency reported.

Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif has left Tehran on Jan. 22 for Davos, Switzerland to take part in the 45th annual summit of World Economic Forum (WEF), the Islamic Republic's official IRNA news agency reported.

Zarif is scheduled to meet with his US counterpart John Kerry on the sidelines of the forum to continue negotiations over the Islamic Republic's disputed nuclear program.

Zarif met Kerry twice in mid-January in Geneva and Paris as the two sides seek to speed up the negotiations to reach a comprehensive agreement on Iran 's nuclear program.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian already arrived in Davos on Jan. 21.

World leaders from political, social and business backgrounds would attend the annual meeting of the WEF.

The focal theme for this year's annual meeting is "The New Global Context".

The meeting would discuss all aspects including those of security, stability, need for increased cooperation, innovation and related aspects.

The forum kicked off on Jan. 21 and will continue until Jan. 24.
