Iranian MPs have issued a note to President Hassan Rouhani, advising him not to use people with dual citizenship in government posts.

The letter has been signed by 13 lawmakers, Iran's Mehr News Agency reported on Jan. 25.

According to the MPs, one of the senior officials of presidential office has American citizenship.

The MPs did not mention to the name of the official, but it seems that they are referring to Mohammad Nahavandian, Rouhani's Chief of Staff.

The lawmakers said in the letter that appointing people with dual citizenships can be dangerous and may face the country with challenges.

"Government officials should not state oath of allegiance under foreign flags", the letter reads.
