Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left Tehran on Feb. 1 for Nairobi, Kenya as the first step of an official visit to four African states.

Heading a high ranking delegation Zarif also will visit Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania, the Islamic Republic's official IRNA news agency reported.

The Iranian top diplomat's visit came upon official invitations by his African counterparts.

He is scheduled to meet counterparts and also negotiate with high-ranking officials in his visit to Nairobi, Kampala, Bujumbura and Dodoma.

The issues of mutual interests as well as regional and global developments will be discussed during the visit.
