Iranian MPs have prepared a draft bill for revealing senior officials with dual citizenship.

At least 10 MPs have signed the draft bill which will be submitted to the parliament's presiding board with an "urgency" status with a purpose of its discussing in the parliament in a short time, Iran's Fars news agency reported March 1.

Commenting on the draft bill, Javad Karimi Ghoddousi, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the parliament said that the bill is aimed at revealing the senior officials in the governmental bodies who have dual citizenship or Green Card and determining the legal gaps on the issue.

Earlier, at least 13 MPs sent a letter to President Hassan Rouhani and warned him about appointing officials with dual citizenship to the governmental posts.

The MPs claimed that one of the senior officials of the presidential office has American citizenship.

However the MPs did not mention the name of the official, but it seems that they mean Mohammad Nahavandian, Rouhani's Chief of Staff.

However, Rouhani's office rejected the claims, accusing the MPs of publishing the letter without any investigation or inquiry.

The claim is similar to outlets of some radical media in the US which are linked to Israel, the presidential office said.
