By Khalid Kazimov - Trend:

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister in Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amirabdullahian has said that the Islamic Republic supports a process of peace and cooperation in Yemen.

Amirabdullahian made the remarks while commenting on a Yemeni delegation's visit to Tehran, Mehr news agency reported Mar. 2.

An Iranian airplane carrying humanitarian aid landed in Yemen on Mar. 1. In the meantime, an economic delegation from Yemen is in Tehran to seek ways for more cooperation between the two countries.

"We are also holding talks with the delegation on political developments in Yemen in areas that we can help the Yemeni people," the Iranian diplomat stated.

Asked to comment on reports that a flight route has been established between Tehran and Sanaa and that some Ansarullah members are accompanying the economic delegation to Iran, he said that a pact on aerial transportation was being pursued since former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh was in office.

He added that the pact was revived through efforts made in the past 10 days by an Iranian aviation delegation, nothing that Tehran-Sanaa flights will be operational soon.

Iran's IRIB news agency reported Mar. 2 that a governmental delegation from Yemen headed by Saleh al-Samad, head of Ansarullah movement's political council, had traveled to Tehran accompanied by officials from different Yemeni ministries as well as economic experts.
