Iran says mutual gain, revocation of all sanctions needed for nuclear agreement

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said that the only way for the country and the Group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) to make a deal on Tehran's nuclear program is that all sides come out as winners and the entire economic sanctions on Iran be removed.

Shamkhani asserted that it is a false perception that Iran would go for a deal at any price, Fars news agency reported March 9.

He stated that the sanctions are unjust, illegal, and ineffective.

"Iran has given the other side a chance to end the fake crisis based on reason and within the international legal framework," he stated.

The sides wrapped up four days of intense talks last week, after which they maintained that great steps had been taken toward reaching a final agreement.

The talks between Iran and the P5+1 were extended until June 30, 2015 to reach a comprehensive nuclear agreement. However, the sides attempt to reach a political accord in March.

After the parties failed to meet the November 24, 2014 deadline they also extended the Geneva nuclear deal, which was signed in November 2013 for providing Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities.
