Iran's foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says nuclear talks are underway with negotiating on "very detailed" issues.

"We have reached very detailed issues. There are always differences in viewpoints. We will try to resolve the differences, if possible," Iran's Fars news agency quoted Zarif as saying on March 18.

There is a common understanding on some issues, but on some others there is a long way to reach a solution, he added.

"An agreement will happen if all issues are agreed in written and in details. I believe that such an agreement will not happen over the next one or two days."

Iran Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on March 15 that the country hopes to eliminate the main controversies with the United States during the talks.
"We still have big controversies and big gaps, and let us see if we can remove them," he said.
"We have achieved some progress in the last rounds of the talks," Araqchi added. "Let us see if we can do that again this time."

This round of talks is expected to last until March 19.
