IRI FM: No final decisions about drafting a statement

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said there is no final decision yet about drafting a statement.

He made the remarks while taking a stroll with the members of the Iranian delegation at the campus of Beau Rivage Palace Hotel which host Iran's nuclear talks with six world powers.

Zarif said talks were presently not at a stage to talk about this particular issue in definite terms. He said there have been some attempts on drafting a statement but it was impossible yet to talk about a final statement

However, the Iranian foreign minister stressed, the outcome of the talks will be nothing more than a statement.

He said discussions are presently at a very tough stage for the reason that participating delegations are focusing on details. He said hoped a progress will be made.

"Talks are still going on," the foreign minister said, adding that "discussions are underway not between two delegations but among several ones."

He said the fact that delegations are debating issues according to their own concerns and interests makes things a little more complicated. This complication affects both talks between Iran and the six powers and within the 5+1 member states, the foreign minister said.

He said the progress of talks depended on the political will of the parties involved but their political will always suffered shortcomings. He said the three foreign ministers of the countries taking part in the talks had to leave Lausanne to take care of affairs in their own countries. They are to join their delegations in Lausanne again if the need arises, he added.

Zarif's deputy Abbas Araqchi told reporters on Wednesday that Tehran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) could issue a final statement on resolution of key issues. He that Iran and the six world powers have already resumed drafting ways of resolution of dispute over Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

The Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that any agreement between Iran and the G5+1 should guarantee removal of all sanctions and do not prevent Iran's research and development on advanced centrifuges.

Zarif and the US Secretary of State John Kerry held talks amid breathtaking negotiations over Tehran's nuclear program.

The Ministerial meeting between Iran and the Group 5+1 which started its work in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Wednesday ended for a breathtaking after two hours of discussion.

The two sides are negotiating a solution to the remaining disagreements and it is expected that they issue a final statement on resolution of key issues.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi and the US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz met also on Wednesday morning as part of efforts between Iran and the G5+1 aimed at reaching mutual understanding in the negotiations.

This is while the experts and deputies of the G5+1 and Iran are also reported to be holding separate discussions and consultations among themselves.
