The deliveries of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Iran don't violate the balance of power in the region, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Apr. 22.
He made the remarks speaking to the 'Sputnik', 'Echo of Moscow' and 'This is Moscow Speaking' radio stations, according to the TASS news agency.
"Following the delivery of S-300 to Iran, those who still want to strike on Iran, would probably think twice, at least, before doing it," said the minister.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree lifting the ban on the delivery of the S-300 systems to Iran.
Back in 2007, it was agreed to sell to Iran five battalions of S-300PMU-1, consisting of 40 launchers.
Three years later, the implementation of the contract, worth $800 million, was suspended due to international sanctions against Iran.
