By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Assistance of Iran to Iraq is just in the form of consultation, not in any other form, the Islamic Republic's Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said.

"As the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other officials of the Islamic Republic have stressed, we do not provide weaponry or other issues which may be sort of intervention in Iraq. Neither in Iraq, nor in Syria ," Pourdastan said in response to a question about a footage which is shared by social media about an alleged Iranian missile system in Iraq 's al-Anbar province, Iran 's ISNA news agency reported June 9.

Pourdastan said earlier that Iran considers Iraq 's security as its own, so will offer the neighboring country's army military training and advisory help if it is necessary.

Iran has no military presence in Iraq, he said, stressing that Tehran only provides advisory assistance to Baghdad in the fight against the IS(Islamic State) group.

Iranian officials have made it clear that Iraq is capable of defending itself and there is no need to send any combat troops to the Arab country.
