Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Saudi Arabia's foreign minister, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir discussed the latest regional developments, including Yemen crisis in a meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The sides met on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of the Islamic Cooperation Organization on Yemen crisis. The meeting was held on June 16.

The two parties exchanged viewpoints on some regional issues, Amir Abdollahian said while commenting on his meeting with Al-Jubeir.

"We announced that military approach towards the regional issues is not constructive," the Iranian official said, the country's State IRINN TV reported June 17.

He further said the Iranian side emphasized that dialogue and constrictive cooperation can play an effective role in resolving the regional problems and achieving a sustainable security.

The Iranian part emphasized that all parts will benefit constructive political approach and security in the region, Amir Abdollahian said.

He also added that the Saudi top diplomat in his turn underlined the importance of dialogue and cooperation among the regional countries to establish the security.

Iran is already clashing with Saudi Arabia over a number of issues, especially their support for opposing sides in the Syrian and Yemen civil war. Saudi Arabia and its allies accuse the Islamic Republic of destabilizing the region, something that Tehran denies.

The Iranian-backed Houthi militia group Ansarullah, the power base of which is in the main Shiite northern highlands, overran Sanaa unopposed last September.

An international coalition led by Saudi Arabia launched air strikes on the Houthi militia forces in Yemen March 25, in a move to support President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who was forced to flee to Riyadh.
