Italian economic delegation to travel to Iran Aug. 4

Italian Economic Development Minister Federica Guidi will lead a delegation of traders and businessmen to Iran on August 4.

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Italian Economic Development Minister Federica Guidi will lead a delegation of traders and businessmen to Iran on August 4, said Ali-Akbar Farazi, the vice chairman of Iran chamber of commerce, industries, and mines.

Also, the Italian foreign affairs minister will accompany the delegation, IRNA news agency quoted Farazi as saying on August 2.

The delegation will be comprised of representatives of Italian insurance, banking, automotive, pharmaceutical, energy, as well as managers of oil and gas giant ENI, he said.

Italy was the leading trading partner of Iran before the imposition of sanctions, he said, adding that it seeks to restore its economic situation in Iran.

Italy was the 9th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods during the first quarter of the current Iranian year (March 21-June 21), according to the Iran Customs Administration.

Iran exported $124.605 million of non-oil goods to Italy and imported $205.856 million of non-oil goods from the country during the three-month period.

On May 17, Iran and Italy signed a bilateral trade insurance agreement which is expected to help facilitate commercial transactions between the two countries.

The agreement was signed between the Export Guarantee Fund of Iran (EGFI) and Italy's Servizi Assicurativi del Commercio Estero (SACE).
