IAEA Director-General Yukiya Amano said on Sunday that due to seriousness of the data obtained by IAEA the agency respects confidential issues, Irna reported.

IAEA has a special department to keep classified information and is committed to protecting and safeguardig them, he said.

Speaking at a session of the Majlis special committee to review JCOPA, he said he was very happy to find such suitable opportunity to be present among the Iranian parliamentarians as he believed that this opportunity was of prime importance bcause both sides were in dire need of such negotiations.

He said before attending the Majlis special committee session, he met with President Hassan Rouhani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi, Amano said.

He said immediately after taking office in 2009 as IAEA director general he put Iran's dossier on his agenda believing that it should be resolved through diplomacy.
IAEA plays a vital role in resolving challenges as it has experts and is able to carry out its duties properly, he said.

Cooperation between Iran and IAEA dated by to the 1970s, Amano said.

'IAEA welcomes JCOPA and following the signing of the deal by Iran and G5+1 in July, the IAEA Board of Governors assigned me to do relative checking which is verification of Iran's peaceful nuclear program and I believe that through collective cooperation between Iran and IAEA this will be implemented with success to finalized the 20 month long dialogues,' he said.

The two sides agreed on a Road Map which is very constructive and is to resolve remaining issues before the year end, he said.

According to JCPOA, Iran is to voluntariy implement additional protocol to NPT which proves peaceful nature of its nuclear program, Amano said.

Over 120 countries in the world are now implementing additional protocol to NPT and the same rule applies to Iran, he said.
