Iranian and Russian lawmakers explored new avenues for widening and deepening of Tehran-Moscow cooperation in various sectors, particularly in parliamentary fields, IRNA reported.

In a meeting between Iranian MP Amir Khojasteh and Russian Lawmaker Nicolai Levychev, the two legislators emphasized the need for both sides to pave the ground for further advancement of ties.

Khojasteh underlined that the development of ties between the parliaments of the two countries can contribute to the promotion of political, economic and cultural ties between Tehran and Moscow.

He emphasized the need to make the best use of industrial, agricultural and trade potential to shore up ties, and stressed that the two countries need to support their private sectors to develop bilateral economic ties.

The Russian legislator called for the implementation of previously inked economic and industrial agreements between Tehran and Moscow.

In the last several years, Iran and Russia have had vast cooperation in different fields, specially in political and economic spheres.

The two states also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long had constant and regular consultations on key regional and global issues.
