Afghan Minister of Counter Narcotics Salamat Azimi has called for further cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan in the fight against narcotics, IRNA reported.

The menace of narcotics in Afghanistan will affect the neighboring countries,' she said at a ceremony here on Wednesday to mark Iran's Police Week.

'The fight against narcotics is an international issue,' she added, 'Iran and Afghanistan must increase their cooperation in this regard.'

Saying that Iran has always been beside Afghanistan, Azimi hailed the contribution of Iranian police force in the counter narcotic operation and its cooperation with the Afghan force.

Also speaking at the event held in the Iranian Embassy in Kabul, the Afghan deputy interior minister, General Baz Mohammad Ahmadi, hailed the Iranian police and hoped that Afghan police can use the experience of their Iranian couterparts.

Iranian anti-narctoic police attache in Kabul, Mamoud-Reza Pur-Mansour, expressed Iran's readiness to raise level of cooperation with Afghanistan's police.
