By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said will travel to Iran Oct. 14, aiming to discuss ways to boost bilateral ties.

The Indonesian minister will visit Iranian senior officials including Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, Iran 's IRNA news agency reported Oct. 13.

" Indonesia is pursuing cooperation with Iran, although sanctions on Iran have not been lifted," Said said.

"Many countries are being prepared to enter the Iranian market. Indonesia should not lose the opportunity and be the last one," he added.

Holding meetings on OPEC, supply of crude oil, as well as oil and gas exploration plans will be on the agenda during the visit.

"Iran is seeking to export bitumen to Indonesia and invest in the country's electricity projects. Indonesia severely needs natural gas and bitumen."

A memorandum of understanding for long-term oil supply was signed between Iranian and Indonesian companies in February 2014.
