Iranian police is fully ready to tackle terrorist attacks amid the ongoing meetings of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Tehran, General Hossein Sajedinia, Tehran's police chief said.

There has been no evidence regarding the presence of the "Islamic State" militants in Iran's capital so far, he added.

Sajedinia noted that traffic restrictions will be imposed in some parts of Tehran in order to ensure the security of the ongoing GECF meetings.

The four-day meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum kicked off on Nov.20 in Tehran and the third summit of the leaders of the GECF member states will be held there Nov.23 with participation of nine heads of state.

So far, the presence of presidents of Bolivia, Russia, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Venezuela and Iraq has become certain.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov, who arrived in Tehran Nov.22, will also attend the upcoming GECF meeting as a special guest.

Gen Sajedinia further announced that schools, universities and several governmental offices that are located in zones 1-3 in Tehran will be off tomorrow.

Russia, Iran, Qatar, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, and the United Arab Emirates, are main members of the gas exporting body. Observer countries are the Netherlands, Iraq, Oman, Peru, Azerbaijan and Norway.

GECF members account for 42 percent of global gas output, 70 percent of global gas reserve, 40 percent of piped gas transfer, and 65 percent of global trade of Liquefied Natural Gas.
