Tehran, Iran, Nov. 23

By Temkin Jafarov, Khalid Kazimov - Trend:

An Iranian member of parliament (MP) has accused the west and some regional countries of creating and supporting terrorist groups in the region.

"Western countries and some regional states have organized Daesh (the IS) and other terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda aimed at undermining the security of the Islamic Republic. They made efforts to create insecurity in Iran," Hossein Naqavi-Hosseini, spokesperson for Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission , told Trend Nov. 23.

However the Islamic Republic of Iran is the safest country in the Middle East because the security forces monitor borders and they have adopted a series of wide-ranging security measures on the frontiers, he added.

The MP said that the recent reports about repelling the terrorist groups' attempts to cross the country's borders prove the high level of Iranian security forces awareness.

The MP also said that the IS and its regional supporters are incapable of undermining the Islamic Republic's security. Naqavi-Hosseini warned the supporters of the IS that supporting terrorist groups would cause backlash against their own security.

He concluded urging for an international action against the Islamic State militants.

Iranian officials say that security forces have recently foiled several attempt made by the IS aimed at conducting terrorist attacks in the country.

On Nov. 21, Iranian security organizations arrested two terrorist teams who had a considerable amount of explosives, weapons and ammunitions on the country's eastern and northwestern frontiers.
