Terror attacks on Shia holy shrines are unbearable for Iran, the country's President Hassan Rouhani said on March 12, IRNA news agency reported.

The biggest holy Shia shrines are located in Iraq, while the tomb of Zaynab, the daughter of of Shia's first Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib is located in Syria.

"We are proud to see Iranians are ready to defend Islam and the family of the Islamic prophet Muhammad," Rouhani said, adding that Iran would never tolerate any attack on the holy shrines.

During the last several years, many members of the Iranian armed forces were killed in Syria in combating with the "Islamic State" (IS aka ISIS, ISIL or Daesh) and other groups.

Iran argues the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' members are in Syria to provide "advisory helps" to Bashar Asad regime and to defend the " Zaynab's shrine".
