Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has described US Secretary of State John Kerry's recent remarks regarding a new arrangement for Iran's defense issue as baseless.

"Both, Mr Kerry and the US State Department know very well that Iran's missile program is not negotiable," IRNA news agency quoted Zarif as saying at a joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart, Marina Kaljurand, in Tehran.

Saying that the US government understands that the defense issue is not a topic for discussion, Zarif ruled out any possibilities for holding negotiations similar to the nuclear talks on Iran's missile program.

Earlier during a meeting with the ministers of the Persian Gulf States Kerry said that the US was prepared to find a peaceful solution to Iran's missiles program.

He further criticized the US government for selling arms to Saudi Arabia and its allies saying those arms are used against innocent civilians in Yemen.

Zarif also touched upon extremism and terrorism issues in the region accusing the US allies of backing the IS terrorist group (ISIS,ISIL, Daesh) by providing the terrorist group with arms and purchasing oil from the IS.
