Iranian ICT Minister Mahmoud Vaezi and Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev have discussed President Hassan Rouhani's upcoming visit to Baku.

Mahmoud Vaezi has said that Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev is in Iran to lay the groundwork for President Rouhani's upcoming visit to Azerbaijan, IRNA news agency reported.

According to Vaezi, new agreements are expected to be signed during the upcoming visit.

He speculated that the visit will take place in the second half of the current Iranian calendar year which started March 20.

Vaezi further called for accelerating the construction process of a railway project connecting Iran to Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, the ministers paid a visit to Iranian city of Qazvin to monitor the construction process of the railway.

A ground breaking ceremony for connecting the railroads of Iran and Azerbaijan took place on April 20.

The project for connecting the railways of the neighboring countries emerged as part of the North-South corridor which is a plan for linking Europe to India through several countries including Azerbaijan and Iran, lessening shipment time from 40 to 14 days end-to-end.
