Iran has no official talks with Saudi Arabia, the country's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari said.

However Ansari did not reject possible unofficial talks between certain circles of the two countries on the sidelines of international meetings, IRNA news agency reported June 6.

He further said that not Tehran, but Riyadh was the side that cut the ties, adding that meanwhile there is no ban for contact of the two countries' citizens.

Following execution of a prominent Shia cleric, Nimr al-Nimr by Saudis, angry Iranian protesters attacked Saudi embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad. Right after the attacks on its diplomatic missions, the Saudi Arabia severed ties with the Islamic Republic.

Bahrain, Sudan, Djibouti, Kuwait, Somali, Union of the Comoros and the UAE have already rallied to Saudi Arabia's side, breaking off or downgrading relations with Iran.

The tension between the two regional rivals also reflected to the 13th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which was held last week in Istanbul, Turkey.
