Iran has revealed more details about a recently foiled series of bombings that terrorists had planned to carry out across the country, including in capital city Tehran.
Following operations, 10 terrorists were arrested while preparing a series of bombings and now they are being interrogated by intelligence forces, Iran’s Minister of Intelligence Mahmoud Alavi said, IRIB news agency reported June 22.
Alavi said the terrorists were arrested in Tehran and three other provinces.
He added that the security forces are doing follow-ups to the operation that on June 20 led to the arrest of the terrorists, who were in possession of huge loads of explosives.
“They had made preparations for bombing and remote ignition, suicide operations, and blasting cars with huge loads of explosives in crowded areas,” said the minister.
“They had designated 50 spots for their bombings. The explosives that we found with them weigh two tons.”
In an earlier released report, the ministry said the bombings had been planned to be carried out in public gatherings of the Muslims in the ongoing fasting month of Ramadan.
