Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said that the Islamic Republic is ready to help Mali in its fight against terrorism.

“Iran is ready to cooperate with Bamako in fight against terrorism and extremism,” IRNA news agency quoted Zarif as saying at a meeting with Mali’s Prime Minister Modibo Keita in Bamako.

Criticizing the extremist groups operating in Mali, Zarif also said Iran is ready to share its experience in fight against drug trafficking.

He further called for expansion of bilateral ties in various fields including agriculture, health, education, energy, IT, banking and finance.

Zarif left Guinea for Mali July 28 at the final leg of his tour to West Africa.

He is accompanied by political and economic delegation on his six-day visit to Nigeria, Ghana, Guinea and Mali.
