Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu traveled to Tehran Aug. 18 and left the same day, Turkish sources revealed one day after the visit.

The Turkish foreign minister held talks on regional affairs with Iranian officials in the few hours he was in Tehran, Fars news agency quoted sources in Turkey as saying Aug. 19.

Things have been changing fast between Tehran and Ankara in the past few days.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif visited Turkey Aug. 12.

Later it was announced that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to Tehran Aug. 24.

On the economic front, Iran announced Aug. 19 preparedness to increase its 30 million cubic meters per day (mcmd) of gas export to Turkey by 6 mcmd.

The developments came about after Turkey voiced willingness to work alongside Iran and Russia over the undergoing crisis in Syria.
