Iran security forces destroy "terrorist" group

Iran’s intelligence ministry has announced that its forces in collaboration with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have put down a twelve-member terrorist group in the northwestern city of Sardasht in West Azerbaijan Province of Iran.

Iran’s intelligence ministry has announced that its forces in collaboration with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have put down a twelve-member terrorist group in the northwestern city of Sardasht in West Azerbaijan Province of Iran.

The operation against the terrorist group which had a plan to carry out acts of sabotage in the Islamic Republic took place September 6 along the country’s border areas with Iraq, IRNA news agency reported.

The report added that Saudi Arabia as well as several other countries backed the terrorist group.

The number of armed clashes between the IRGC and members of dissident groups along the country’s borders with Iraq has increased over the past several months.
