Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has called on all parties involved in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA/ nuclear deal) to fulfill their commitments regarding the JCPOA.

“Iran has fully met its commitments [regarding the JCPOA] and the other side also needs to treat the JCPOA in the same way,” IRNA news agency quoted the president as saying at a meeting with the British ambassador to Tehran, Nicholas Hopton Oct. 31.

Saying that the expansion of bilateral ties between Iran and the UK are of high importance, Rouhani added that bilateral ties between the two countries have developed over the recent years.

He further noted that establishing banking ties between the two countries is a prerequisite for upgrading ties in all fields, including economy, science, culture, and diplomacy.

The UK’s new ambassador to Tehran, Nicholas Hopton, on Monday presented his credentials to President Rouhani.

Hopton expressed his country’s interest in cooperation with Iran and said the central banks of the two countries will hold talks on banking ties in near future.

Nicholas Hopton also called for further cooperation with Iran on regional issues.
