Some 3,000 websites backed by a fund of 10 trillion rials (more than $3 million) are working in Iran to defame the government of President Hassan Rouhani, IRNA reported December 27.

The report does not mention the source of financial backing, but says the members of the “dreadful network” act in complete coordination.

Recently, former minister of culture Ali Jannati said that certain think tanks have been formed to destroy the government of Iran.

In the meantime, Arman newspaper on December 29 reported that a group named “Ammar Missionary Network” dispatches speakers to various places across the country to give anti-government lectures. The report said the group will continue its activity during the presidential campaign.

Iran’s presidential election will be held in May 2017, where Rouhani is expected to run for a second term.
